Philippine beauty queen Anne Patricia Lorenzo Diaz has added another meaningful achievement to her pageant journey, becoming the first transgender titleholder in the history of Reina Filipinas.
Representing Manila, Anne was crowned one of the two Reina Filipinas MGI All Stars 2026 queens during the inaugural Reina Filipinas coronation night on August 7, 2026, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
She shared the MGI All Stars honors with Iloilo City's Alexie Brooks, while Angelica Lopez of Palawan captured the main Miss Grand Philippines 2026 title.
A Historic Moment for Reina Filipinas
Anne entered the competition already carrying an impressive pageant background. She previously represented the Philippines at Miss International Queen 2025, where she finished in the Top 6.
Her participation in Reina Filipinas was historic from the beginning. Anne was the only transgender woman among the 21 candidates competing in the pageant's inaugural edition.
Rather than simply participating, she advanced through the competition and ultimately earned one of its international titles.
Reina Filipinas itself recognizes Anne as the organization's first transgender titleholder.
Her victory means she is expected to represent the Philippines at the second edition of MGI All Stars in Thailand.
Competing Alongside Other Women
One of the most significant parts of Anne's journey was that Reina Filipinas was not a competition created exclusively for transgender contestants.
Before the coronation, Anne spoke openly about being the only transgender woman in the field. She said she was proud to stand alongside her fellow women and hoped her presence would encourage younger Transpinays who may be afraid to pursue similar opportunities because of judgment.
Her eventual victory gave that message even greater meaning.
Anne did not have to win the main Reina Filipinas crown for her participation to make history. By earning one of the organization's three international assignments, she became part of the first group of queens ever crowned by Reina Filipinas.
From Miss International Queen to Another International Stage
Anne's latest achievement is also part of a longer pageant journey.
She won Miss International Queen Philippines 2025 and went on to compete at Miss International Queen 2025 in Thailand, finishing among the Top 6.
Instead of ending her competitive journey there, she entered another national competition the following year.
That decision resulted in another crown and another opportunity to carry the Philippine flag internationally.
Opening More Doors
Beauty pageants continue to change as organizations reconsider traditional ideas about who can compete and represent them.
Anne Patricia Lorenzo Diaz's Reina Filipinas achievement is one example of that change happening in the Philippines.
For aspiring transgender women watching from home, her story carries a simple message: being the first person through a door can be difficult, but stepping through it can make the path more visible for the people who come next.
Anne entered Reina Filipinas hoping to become part of its history.
By the end of coronation night, she had done exactly that.
